Red Wine

Grapes suited for making red wine were first brought to California in 1769 by Spanish missionaries. Now, over 66 varieties of grapes are grown and used to produce red wine in California. Of these, the ones most often used to make fine red table wines are Cabernet Sauvignon, Zinfandel, Merlot, Syrah, and Pinot Noir.
